Re: OS Pdf Indexer
So how to you link to the advanced search for the first search, just by linking a url and not linking to the advanced search displayed when you make a menu item?

Re: OS Pdf Indexer
Maybe I am not being clear with my problem, when I link in the menu item advanced search and do a search it comes up with no results.
If I do a url link to the advanced search it works for the first search and then takes me to the regular search again.
Is there any possible way to get the advanced search going on my site so I always stay on the advanced search page as it is a research site and we use phrases. For example when I use the regular search for say "past practice" I come up with over 1000 results when I use the exact phrase I come up with about 100. This is a really important feature for the site and I will gladly purchase the program once I can get this going.
Thank you for your help and patience.

Great, that worked awesome not it comes up with all the searches I need.
My last questiion.
When I make a menu item I have Ace Search:
Advanced search and
Search
I absolutely need to use the advanced search in the menu not just the search as they are not relevant when I just use the search. Is there any way I can get the advanced search working from the menu and turn off the regular search? Then I will be a very happy camper as I really have to have the advanced search as people doing a regular search will not come up with what they need and they will not know to go to the advanced search.
Thank you so much for getting me through this.

I have spent a lot of time today trying different searches etc. and the only way this component can work for us is with the advanced search as the things we tend to search for on the railway are rather wordy searches. I tried linking to the advanced search with a url link but of course this only works for 1 search and then goes back to the regular search.
I have also noticed that no matter what I search for I always come up with the maximum of 50 results which is not always true so I must have something set wrong, but I do need all results to appear when needed.
I do appreciate your helping me with this.
Thank you. Hope you had a great New Year.

Also I noticed that you turned off the advanced search in the menu. I put it back in again, but it does not work from a menu item. I really do need it to go directly to the advanced search, is this not possible?

Wow this is much nicer and actually coming up with relevant searches. One last question and then I think this is a keeper, when doing a search I would like it to highlight the relevant text in and around the search, right now it is just showing the text from the top of the page and rarely highlighting the relevant text. Is there any way to adjust this?

Re: OS Pdf Indexer
I bought the ace search os pdf indexer and installed it and now when I am in a regular search it searches the pdf documents but the results are way out, as I cannot use the extended search, it will not work. For example when I search for "belt pack material change" it comes up with package in the results, I really need the extended search to work. I have a link to both on my site but no results will come up.
Also when The search comes up with results when you click on a link you get Fatal error: Call to a member function redirect() on a non-object in /home/croa/public_html/components/com_docindexer/controller.php on line 57
Search of pdf files is all I have on the railway research site so would really like to get this search humming, buy a licence and forget about it.
Thanks for your help.

Re: OS Pdf Indexer
I made the menu item, I didn't bother to hide it as this is not a live site as yet.
I have the pdf indexer ace search and have uploaded it in extensions of the component but nothing shows up there. I also tried just the regular install but I can't find it or see it as I thought it would turn up in extensions for the search component.
I definately installed it but when I was first doing the config I had the option of search menu, categories, etc. then everything just disappears and there is nothing in extensions which I think is where I should see it.
Would you like me to pm you my admin log in information so you could take a peak, or am I totally lost...

I purchased OSpdfindexer and it has taken me a month to finally get it going. Then when I went to do a search I noticed in Joomla 1.7 I was limited to 20 characters. No way this can work for us.
I started searching for a new search and found and love acesearch and will gladly buy it if I can get it working with pdf indexer as I have a research site with over 4000 pdf files and counting and this I need.
If you view my site CROACases.com you will see I have two searches in the menu the standard joomla search which searches the pdf files and your new nicely laid out search. The problem is when I search it gives no results, right now I only want it to search the pdfs but I did turn on the search content in case that was the problem.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
