Configuring on a Lighttpd Server

I do not know if this is the right forum for this, but I am trying to configure AceSEF with a lighttpd server (I heard from other sites that it can work with lighttpd). I am on a shared server, with a larger site (I am making a sub-domain site for a project on the larger site). It has PHP 5+ and from the webmaster of the larger site we have a  URL Rewrite Module, so we meet the requirements (supposedly) and I have changed the htaccess.txt  to .htaccess, and it still works until I enable AceSEF, then I receive 404 Pages. I have tried enabling to the mod_Apache but because we are not on an Apache server that fails.

I came from using an older version of sh404SEF, which didn't require the change in htaccess.txt, and it worked almost perfectly but I heard AceSEF was better and didn't cost money. I was hoping that it would also be able to hook up to lighttpd like people are saying, but searching around I haven't found a single thread of information explaining how to configure it.

All Replies will be extremely helpful.
