site wont dislay after acesef install

Hi! I am having some issues with acesef basic. I am currently using sh404sef and have turned it off and installed acesef to test. When i configured and then refreshed, my site would not display at all - nothing but a blank. I would like to try this component. Can anyone help me make it work please? Please advise. thanks

Re: site wont dislay after acesef install

Log404 errors? - it was set to off. I turned it on now. Here is the error message:

The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    *   This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

The site resolves perfectly when it is off. Any ideas?

Re: site wont dislay after acesef install

.

Un-install sh404SEF completely to test.

In the past I found that sh404SEF was still affecting things even while Off.

"I installed it and it doesn't work."

No one can help without any information.

Have you read the User Manual?
Have you read the requirements?
Does your server meet the requirements?
Have you configured Joomla properly?
Have you renamed the htaccess.txt file properly?

Re: site wont dislay after acesef install

I have read the manual
I have read the requirements
My server runs PHP 5.2.9
YES to SEF and mod_rewrite options in Global Configuration
renamed to .htaccess

I have enabled 3rd party sef in the .htaccess:

########## Begin - 3rd Party SEF Section
############# Use this section if you are using a 3rd party (Non Joomla! core) SEF extension - e.g. OpenSEF, 404_SEF, 404SEFx, SEF Advance, etc
#
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(/component/option,com) [NC,OR] ##optional - see notes##
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (/|\.htm|\.php|\.html|/[^.]*)$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule (.*) index.php
#
########## End - 3rd Party SEF Section

My site still will not display. Please advise. thanks

That 3rd-Party SEF section is from an old Joomla 1.0 htaccess file.

You should be using the current Joomla 1.5 htaccess file.
It works without any modification.
