Upgrade to AceSEF 1.5.1 gone badly wrong

I just updated my AceSEF package to v. 1.5.1 by the usual route; i.e. I downloaded the zip file to my desktop, browsed through the Config panel and then proceeded using the Install button.  The Configuration message confirmed successful installation.  Disaster......Unfortunately, the site will now not open, giving the following on-screen message:

Fatal error: Class 'AceSEFTools' not found in /home/bpcom/public_html/administrator/components/com_acesef/extensions/com_sectionex.php on line 12

There are also the following messages on the AceSEF Control Panel:

Configuration is NOT updated
There is a problem with your .htaccess file

Please can someone help.  sad
