AceSEF -Internal Server Error

AceSEF -Internal Server Error

Forum and moderators:

I have an ugly problem I need your help with. All my links return an Internal Server Error:

Before I posted this request, I followed the steps in the forum and the product documentation:

1. Activated SEF and mod_rewrite (yes, activated).
2. Checked the var $live_site in the configuration file (yes, it is enabled).
3. Checked to ensure both SEF and AceSEF are on (yes, both are enabled).
4. Uploaded a new .htaccess file provided by moderators from a previous thread (yes, completed).
5. Commented out  "Options +FollowSymLinks" in .htaccess file (yes, commented out)

None of these solutions is working.

This Internal Sever Error occurs when the "Use Apache mod_rewrite" radio button is selected in the Global Configuration settings. If deselected then links work (but then I can't use AceSEF).

Please advise...

Re: AceSEF -Internal Server Error

For .htaccess file, get a clean htaccess.txt file from a joomla installation package and rename it to .htaccess

Your server type?

Re: AceSEF -Internal Server Error

Denis,

The server is Apache hosted with Godaddy.com. I uploaded a clean htaccess.txt file twice but the result is the same when I rename it to .htaccess

I tested another domain at Godaddy that doesn't have AceSEF installed and renamed the .htaccess file and got the same results "Internal Server Error".

I called Godaddy and they were not helpful. So I spent an hour reading searching forums and found a solution. The solution was to uncomment the "RewriteBase".

Links are now working.

Can you confirm that is the correct action to take?

This is my .htaccess file:

Re: AceSEF -Internal Server Error

Ask GoDaddy whether your server is Linux or Windows and if they offers mod_rewrite Apache module to you?

Re: AceSEF -Internal Server Error

It is Linux/Apache and they do offer a mod_rewrite Apache module to me.

What should I do next?
