Trouble Shooting

-If you have sections or categories that are the exact same names you will have duplicate urls. Best way is to have unique names between categories, sections, and menu titles. Focus your attention on your menu URL as the ones to maximize understanding on. Then tweak the others ot fit.

-when troubleshooting weird site behavior - things not loading, the wrong things loading etc go in to the SEF URL admin section and filter by the section, category or menu that is giving you the trouble in the SEF URL name. Then Study the REAL URLS ITEM ID#'s. These are usually MENU ID #'s you see in your menu manager. Now go in to your menu's and find these item ID's and you will now be able to find where your conflciting URLS are being built from. By manipulating the names or aliases of these sections, cateogries, or menus you can stop dulicate SEF URL's.  You will notice SEF URLS that are duplicate but the REAL URL IS different - maybe just the ITEM ID# but thats all it takes!!!. You can also choose to make them custom url's and just physically alter the item id's for how you want it to behave. You can also lock them and block them so that when you purge your problems just wont rebuild themeselves as the new URS are built. I have found it better for both admin time (too much locking and blcking) on my side, and better seo to make sure you do not have duplicate URLS at all. Google hates dupe URLS so best advice all around is to pay special attention to the names you give your categories, sections, and menu items (or their aliases) so they are just unique enough to make a unique SEF URL.

-For troublesome components use the add item ID. Particularly if your are losing your module mappings
-make sure you have the menu item id in the individual extensions settings inside ACESEF - partuicularly helpful for SOBI2, Kunena, and Jcal pro

-remember to purge URLS before retest (remember to lock & block before purge)
-remember to clear cache before retest
-if things just don't seem right try a fresh browsers. Cookies can kill you :silly:

just a few bloody noses of mine I hope to avoid for you!
