Hello,
We would like to buy the component acesef + the extension for sobi2, but before that, I would like to get the free version to work...I can install the component without problem, but I get 404 everywhere except the homepage...
1. mod_rewrite is on in the server and in joomla.
2. allow_url_fopen is not on, and we cannot turn it on, but I have read that if it isn't on, it would try to use curl, which is on.
3. The caching of 2 level is off (I read it could give problems)
4. The htaccess exists, and I have takenaway the txt extension.
5. I have set the Joomla to use friendly urls
What can I do? I don't know what else to try....

A couple of us are having the same problems. Basically if you look in the SEF URL section you will see that for some catefories there is no URL being built. Not sure why but Denis (support team) is aware of the issue.
One other thing you can try is to change the SOBI2 Meta tags in the sobi configuiration screen. Set it to no.
If that doesn't work you can go in the the "routers' section of the ACESEF admin section. Change the sobi 2 to "ace Basic rewriting". Then it will work. URLS are not as nice as ACESEF extension.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I think I might not have explained well: I have not yet installed the sobi2 extension, so I am not expecting the sobi2 links to work, but I get 404 even on normal joomla articles... In the url section, they are all being generated, and the generated url appear in the url bar, but I get the 404 on clicking on the link... I don't know what else to try...

The correct file name is .htaccess - with the dot at the beginning.
