Tags for Joomla extension - tag/tag

Hi,

I've just made the move from using SH404SEF to AceSEF.

The move was fairly painless, but I've encountered a couple of problems with the AceSEF extension relating to "Tags for Joomla".

The URLs for tags now have "tag/tag" in them, i.e. duplicating the word "tag", e.g.
http://www.isaackoi.com/tag/tag/seti

All the links that I had previously created using SH404SEF with its "Tags for Joomla" extension had a single "tag" in them. Those links now do not work.

Is it possible to limit the URL to using "tag" just once, instead of duplicating that word?

(I have also had a problem with pagination, but I'll try a few more things to sort that issue out myself before bothering you with that one as well...)

All the best,

Isaac

Re: Tags for Joomla extension - tag/tag

Because I'm fairly new to Joomla (I'd only used Frontpage for my wedding website previously...), I'm not sure what a "real URL" is.

For the example tag URL with AceSEF enabled I gave above:

with the System - AceSEF plugin disabled and Joomla's global configuration not set to SEF URLs the URL (which I think is the "real URL") is:

http://www.isaackoi.com/index.php?optio … eti%20book

with the System - AceSEF plugin disabled and Joomla's global configuration set to SEF URLs:

http://www.isaackoi.com/component/tag/seti%20book

If I have the wrong end of the stick and you need any other information, just let me know.

All the best,

Isaac

Re: Tags for Joomla extension - tag/tag

The new version of what?  I've assumed you mean the AceSEF Tags for Joomla extension - so I've uninstalled the version I installed a few days ago and installed the version of that extension which is at the link below today:

http://www.joomace.net/free-downloads/a … for-joomla

That version seems to have the same numbering (1.0.0) as the version I already had installed.

After installing this version and purging URLs, the tag/tag format remains the same.

Re: Tags for Joomla extension - tag/tag

Ok, I think I've sorted out this problem as well.

If I access the Routers page under the AceSEF component on the Joomla backend, then change "skip prefix / menu" from "no" to "yes" then this changes "tag/tag" in the URL to simply "tag".

I'm not sure if this has any adverse consequences, but it seems to work and makes the URL's consistent with the ones that sh404SEF had generated.

Thanks for your help,

Isaac

Re: Tags for Joomla extension - tag/tag

That is the solution if you've pointed the component to a menu:

If I access the Routers page under the AceSEF component on the Joomla backend, then change "skip prefix / menu" from "no" to "yes" then this changes "tag/tag" in the URL to simply "tag".

Re: Tags for Joomla extension - tag/tag

Hi,

I had the SAME issue and the only way I was able to fix it was by either:

1) doing the same thing he did, telling it to skip the prefix

2) Switch away from using the acesef extension and instead using the joomla 1.5 router file.

This way, my tag urls now read:

www.xxx.com/tag/nintendo.html

instead of

www.xxx.com/tag/tag/nintendo.html
