some kunena ext links yield 404 error

Hi, I wanted to say thanks for helping me with a prior problem but the thread was closed before I had a chance to say thank you.

Since upgrading the latest kunena extension many bugs were fixed however for some unknown reason certain kunena post titles seem to give me 404 errors that didn't prior to upgrading to 1.0.1.

An example of a URL that works when acesef is disabled is:

index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=3&func=view&catid=28&id=5721#5721

the rewritten URL becomes:

forum/comics/cancelled-and-completed-series/ultimate-x-men/ultimatum-x-men-requiem-1.html#5721

which seems like it would make perfect sense but yet I get 404. I also notice that the issue may be caused by certain characters like !#?: in the forum post titles.

I've also attached a picture of the kunena extension settings just in case.

Thanks, again, for all your help! It's greatly appreciated.

Re: some kunena ext links yield 404 error

Hi Justin,

You're wellcome.

I have to say that I had the same isue on joomace.net after we moved from JoomSEF to AceSEF, #5721 fragment were added to SEF URLs.

However, neither on localhost nor on test site (www.ayseaglamis.com/en/kunena) this issue consists.
The only difference is that we were using Kunena 1.0 then upgraded to Kunena 1.5 on joomace.net but the test sites were a clean Kunena 1.5 installation.
I mean we are overlooking something but what? I'll take a look asap to this issue again.

Best Regards

Re: some kunena ext links yield 404 error

Hm. I'm not sure.

My history was a little different. I upgraded to kunena 1.5 then I switched from sh404sef to joomace.  Everything was working good except for pagination in the latest post section. But I got no 404 errors.

I then upgraded to the latest acesef kunena ext.  The pagination problem in the latest posts section was fixed perfectly but then the 404 for specific forum topics started.

I can narrow it down to this:

  • it happens only to posts where the characters "?" and "#" and "!" are present.

  • I'm mostly certain it happens only to posts with "?" that were created prior to upgrading to the latest acesef kunena ext.

I purged all my url that weren't locked (no forum urls were locked) several times and tried several different settings including the post id # prefix prepended to the SEF url.  The same posts with those two characters still yielded 404 despite the changes.

The #5721 fragment issue has disappeared for me.  That's why I'm thinking this is a separate issue connected to those characters?   What do you think?  I wish I could be more help in solving the problem sad

Feel free to take a look at the forum if you want.

Re: some kunena ext links yield 404 error

Sadly, I had to set the router of this component to disable.  I was never able to find a solution and the members on my site were getting really angry with me.  I do appreciate your trying though Dennis sad  Do you think re-installing joomla and starting fresh will work?

Re: some kunena ext links yield 404 error

You need to add the Menu Item ID for kunena in to the ACESEF Extension properties.

Make sure to purge URL and Clear cache after doing so. If that alone does not fix your issue you can (and I recommend it as its helped me a lot) go in to the advanced properties of the ACESEF app and set it to "Add the item ID" to the url. This will really help your URLS stay mapped to their modules as well as minimize 404 errors. Hope that helps and good luck

Re: some kunena ext links yield 404 error

Hi David,

Unfortunately attaching an ID to each post or category doesn't fix the problem. I've tried every permutation.

As for purging and clearing cache, I always tried to do it, I just did again after your advice to quadruple check and still nothing.  I appreciate your trying though.

Re: some kunena ext links yield 404 error

Ok. I was noticing thought in your screen shot that you do not have the Kunena Menu item id in the ACESEF Kunena extension properties field. Not the "add item id" to url function in acesef but the field parameter on the extension. It took me a while to get it but I had your same issue but now have joomla 1.5.14 + Kunena 1.5.6 on ACESEF 1.1.3 working. SOBI2 is another story. Good luck justin and I will leave you alone now.

It's no bother smile I appreciate it.  That screenshot is old and I have since elected to override the item ID.  Still having the same problem unfortunately.

Re: some kunena ext links yield 404 error

OK, the problem was solved in the new version of kunena extension and acesef 1.2 (which I love by the way).  I wanted to thank both of you for helping me.

I fixed it by NOT overriding the menu item ID as well as adding "\" to the stripped character list in the acesef config.

Spoke too soon.  Same problem exists sad  I'm really ready to tear my hair out with this one.
