K2 Module Support

Hello
I am look at using AceACL to set user Specific pages for one of our site.

Just on Question in regards to the K2 addon. Using the k2 Content Module, will this restrict access to k2 items so I can set 1 item per user and this will be the only one that will be displayed.

Re: K2 Module Support

What I looking for it to do is to hide the k2 items that are not accessible but currently is showing the item title and 'Sorry, but you don't have enough privileges to see this article.' message.

What I want to happen is that the k2 item never shows up so the user does not know it exists.

Re: K2 Module Support

We are doing almost the same as Ryan .
It is all working fine on the front end .
In the back end , Although these users can edit their own items they can't create new ones .
Although they CAN create and edit in the front end with all items only able to be assigned to that users category.

If i set them to be able to EDIT in the backend as well as EDIT OWN
then they can create a new item in the backend but they can put it into whatever category they want
I only want them to be able to create items in their own category ( like in the front end )

Can anyone see what we are doing wrong?

Basically we have 64 bands (atm ) who each have their own permissions and category restrictions in K2
which were imported into AceACL
Do we have to create another group for each of them in AceACL?

We need to give them access to the backend to be able to use modules and components for their designated categories
If they can only create items from the front end , which works fine, No biggy , We can shut down K2 access in the backend
Just want to know why it works in the front end and not the back?
( I can provide ACP access if anyone wants to take a look )

And for Ryan , If i read you right . To only allow certain users to edit their own posts and categories etc .
We found the simplest way was to create them a group and category and assign that user a K2 User Group with access only to his specific categories

Lets say we have a user called Bob

Step 1: Create a Category for bobs group to be assigned to
eg K2/Categories then click on NEW
Call it say : Bobs Category
( I find inheriting Parameters from another category saves a lot of ground work . If this is your first category of many . Maybe set them here if you have a lot to do then inherit the parameters of bobs group )
Select your Parent category or leave it as none if you want this to be the parent
Save it

Step 2: Go to K2 / User Groups and click New
Create a new user group for BOB
Eg: Bobs Group
Settings will vary but these are what we use
Post comments Yes
Front-end item editing Yes
Add items Yes
Edit own items Yes
Edit any item No NO
Publish items Yes

Then Select your Category from the list
eg : Bobs Category
Then click YES to Auto assign permissions to sub categories

Save it

Step 3: Goto K2 Users
Select the user BOB and click on the drop down that says
K2 User Group
And assign him to your Group ( Bob's Group )

Now Bob can edit and create his own items in the front end and only use his category ( Bob's Category )
and wont be able to edit or use anyone else's categories

I hope that was what you are looking for
