For the most part the URLs in virtuemart are being sef's nicely....but...
When i re-sort or change the order of the items using the "sort by_____" the page rewrites and url's are UGLY again.

I think that you have set No for adding manufacturer on virtuemart extension options, right?

So, go to /public_html/administrator/components/com_acesef/extensions/com_virtuemart.php and close these code like I did:

/*if (!is_null($uri->getVar('page'))
&& $uri->getVar('page') == 'shop.browse'
&& !is_null($uri->getVar('category_id'))
&& !is_null($uri->getVar('manufacturer_id'))){
$uri->delVar('category_id');
}*/
