TOPIC: 1.5.6 doesn't upgrade to 1.5.7 nor 1.5.8

JoomAce server upgrade failed on me - first to 1.5.7 and then to 1.5.8. I got following error message:

* JFolder::files: Path is not a folder
* JFolder::folder: Path is not a folder
* JFolder::files: Path is not a folder
* ERRORNOTFINDJOOMLAXMLSETUPFILE
* An error occured, please, make sure the "Global Configuration=>Server=>Path to Temp-folder" field has a valid value.

...but nothing has changed from the last time. Am I missing some folders?
I have my Joomla 1.5.22 in a xampp dir E:/xampp/htdocs/joomla15 and it worked in 1.5.6 so don't understand what's wrong. Never had this cry about joomla xml file before. Any idea?

I did upgrade one extension with JoomAce server so this shouldn't have anything to do with such issues like connection.

Can I DL free 1.5.8 somewhere and try installing from that one on localhost? Need some pointers, though...

Don't know what I did (or didn't) but it fixed itself in next update - and failed again. A single category root doesn't work in my pull down menu. Strange thing is that if I point directly to one article inside that category then no problem, pointed article shows. All other categories and articles show nicely - but this one... I tried all suggested solutions in here

but no go... All I get with this category (root?) is some kind of standard 404 error, not even my custom 404

I have a similar issue, I thought it was a path problem or hosting problem, but it seems to be something else.

I Have 1.5.22 also installed Kunena & Joomfish.

Hope somebody has an idea what to do.

in case I want to do a manual upgrade, is there a file that includes only the update or should I use the new version? would it then erase all that I've done?

Umm... yuhuu...? Planet Earth calling... I tried uninstalling several modules and plug-ins but no luck when trying to upgrade using JoomACE server, whatsover. Stuck with 1.5.6. I guess.

I'm also struggling with community builder - JoomACE combination. Do you guys have page where settings could be checked or given some guidance? I'd like to have SEFs as ...mysite/users/userid - and that's it. Don't like the idea of visible usernames in url. Any idea?

However, my main problem is that when I log in - I'm bumbed back into front page and don't get to enter userpage at all. I bet there's just some choise of z and not y which will get me out of trouble but-but --- can't find it

Indeed, this is the problem I have too. Another big issue is that after I tried to upgrade the site, a big problem occurred. I am prompted to login for all new created SEF urls. In order to make them public available I have to Purge/Update all the existing SEF urls. Is this normal???

I am planning to get rid of this buggy extension after Listbingo creates a plugin for Xmap...

Funny enough, I wanted to see what does the upgrade package contain so I downloaded a copy from joomla tmp folder called acesef_upgrade.zip. First time, winrar said the archive is corrupt, so I renamed it to acesef_upgrade.txt and found out it was a damn html file with no information about the upgrade itself.

Joomla gave me this error when I tried to upgrade.

This is not good for a JED review...

It seems that all the problem stays behind the fact that suddenly my download ID became invalid!!!!! WTF, I paid $39 for 6 months and it has expired in 2! I might have reached the maximum download number because I used the upgrade button many times onto multiple sites (according to the license terms, there is NO limit for the domains or joomla installations).

They could have told us NOT to use the automatic update button if we have multiple sites and do the upgrade MANUALLY!

I expect and demand to raise the limit of downloads for my order (and perhaps others as well).

We're working on a new download system without download limit. I've increased your download limit, check your e-mail.
We're not worried about your reviews on JED or elsewhere and we do also know very well that it definitely won't solve your issues.

As for the issue, it is a temp folder permissions issue or as said in the error message the "Global Configuration=>Server=>Path to Temp-folder" field does not have a valid value.
